The latest Faurschou Foundation art gallery is designed to provide its signature cross-cultural dialogue through exhibitions that challenge both artists and visitors.

Faurschou Foundation, a contemporary art institution headquartered in Copenhagen that champions international artists and cross-cultural dialogue through its private collections and museum-quality exhibitions across the globe, is opening a new gallery in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York to offer visitors its signature art experience.

SBI Consultants was retained by Green Art Holdings to furnish project oversight for the renovation of a 12,000 sq. foot former warehouse located at 148 Green Street, Brooklyn, New York into Faurschou Foundation’s latest exhibition space. The existing structure, composed of raw bricks, steel and wooden roof, patchwork and uneven floor, was transformed into a simple, raw, open and welcoming façade and entrance that retains its historical industrial traces. The new gallery has a clean and open feel with concrete floors, sky lights, and a contrasting meeting between brick and dry wall. The space includes offices, café and a book shop replete with natural light, concrete floors and greenery.

To create this innovative and inviting space, SBI supervised and managed the project processes beginning in the preconstruction phase and continuing through project completion. Specific tasks involved the review, evaluation and recommendation of professional design services, the development and review of budget and schedules, selection and negotiations with contractors and vendors, change order management, and payment management. During construction, SBI provided general project management that involved participation in project team meetings, frequent site visits, and the management of critical issues through project completion.

As a result of SBI’s expert project oversight services, Faurschou Foundation’s newest venue will open at the end of 2019 to reveal an exciting exhibition plan that will challenge both artists and visitors.
