Supporting GSA in its responsibilities to client agencies

SBI Consultants scope on this major GSA property involved multiple projects varying in size and scope. With the property being home to multiple GSA client agencies, SBI’s team had to coordinate continuously with the various client agencies to ensure proper and continuous delivery of our services. The projects that SBI’s team members were involved in include:

  • Emergency generator upgrades ($2.5 mil): SBI was involved the due diligence and pre-design phase to evaluate the feasibility to replace and upgrade existing emergency generator equipment. SBI worked with the GSA team, design team members and other project stakeholders to validate construction cost estimates against intended implementation.
  • Toilet Room renovations ($4.5 mil): SBI’s scope entailed performing site surveys of building restroom areas and the preparation of a project master plan incorporating budget, schedule and phasing plans for implementation of the work. SBI’s works was used to guide the design process as well as to validate proposals and bid estimates prepared by construction contractors.
  • Security pavilion addition ($8.5 mil): Over the course of three years, SBI worked with project team members to identify and prepare project scope, estimate the project at various stages in design, perform value engineering, prepare a detailed CPM schedule and participate in several meetings to negotiate change orders, review contractor’s schedule and assist in the resolution of critical items to the project.

Working with the GSA, the Courts, Parsons Brinckerhoff and other project stakeholders, SBI’s work included:

  • Estimating, value engineering and reconciliation of cost estimates being prepared by the third party consultants;
  • Review and evaluation of project logistics and phasing to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Courts.
  • Working with the MEP engineers to evaluate ME systems that would cause minimum disruptions to the interior finishes.
  • Evaluate bidders cost and schedule proposals and advise on accuracy and dependency to ensure GSA’s risk from changes is at a minimum.
