Hudson Highland Shoreline and Breakneck Connector

The Hudson Highland Fjord Trail, an 8-mile linear park along the Hudson River between Beacon and Cold Spring, New York, offers pedestrians and hikers new ways to experience the dramatic beauty and terrain of the Hudson Highlands.

SBI Consultants provided cost engineering and related services for the creation of the Shoreline Trail, a 2-mile segment of the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail that runs along the Hudson River 50 miles north of New York City. SBI also provided site logistics and related services for the construction of the Breakneck Connector Bridge, an essential structure that connects the base of Breakneck Ridge to the River’s edge. Located several hundred feet from the train tunnels, the bridge will be outfitted with a steel pedestrian barrier, railings at least 8 feet high, and mesh to prevent objects from falling on the tracks.
SBI’s preconstruction services for the Shoreline Trail included preparation of cost estimates at the concept and schematic design stages of the design process; preparation of a project schedule summarizing procurement and construction methodologies; participation in value engineering studies; and assessing options for optimizing project costs. For the Breakneck Connector Bridge, SBI is provided site logistics, identifying potential value engineering options, and developing preliminary phasing concepts.

When completed, the Hudson Highland Fjord Trail and Breakneck Connector Bridge will provide visitors with safer access and a stronger visual and physical connection to the spectacular Hudson River and surrounding Highlands.
