Morningside Gardens

Morningside Gardens, a residential cooperative apartment complex located in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, sought to upgrade the walkways and landscaping surrounding this verdant and peaceful enclave.

SBI served as Owner’s Representative for the expansive renovation, which involved a redesign of the pathways, ramps, stairs, parking, and entry plazas throughout the 9-acre campus. The renovation addressed much needed accessibility, storm water, and infrastructure concerns to bring the site in compliance with modern building code while retaining much of the original garden design and horticulture. The completed project provides shade, transitions from buildings to gardens, and definition of entrances and circulation areas.

As Owner’s Representative, SBI Consultants provided essential leadership solutions including cost assessment, scheduling services, and project oversight. During the bidding process and through careful Construction Administration, SBI coordinated with the client to ensure consistency with the project program, overall anticipated budget, and desired completion date. From construction through completion, SBI brought the vision of this project to life with services that include technical direction, inspection of work, and oversight of plans, costs, and schedules. In addition, SBI helped the client navigate coordination and sequencing of work due to a concurrent façade and safety inspection project active on site.

Through every project phase, SBI’s engineers provided consistent and reliable technical and management expertise, anticipated problems, and furnished ongoing guidance to complete the project within budget and on schedule.

With its newly refurbished landscaping and green corridors, Morningside Gardens remains one of the most distinctive and desirable apartment complexes in Manhattan.
