Rockefeller University River Building

A challenging expansion that extends the university’s footprint while integrating with Manhattan’s vibrant East River Walk.

SBI Consultants is pleased to provide impactful Technical and Leadership Solutions to build Rockefeller University’s new Stavros Niarchos Foundation-David Rockefeller River Campus. This bold campus expansion project involves the design, planning and construction of a three-story structure accommodated by a 1000-ft long horizontal expansion that bridges over the adjacent FDR Drive, a major traffic artery along the East River.

At the start of the project, SBI conducted a comprehensive constructability analysis that identified two preeminent project challenges: ensuring the delivery of a novel design for the bridge-like superstructure and executing the foundation and structural work over one of the busiest highways in the U.S.

Now complete, the Marie-Josée and Henry R. Kravis Research Building has added 160,000 square feet of new, state-of-the-art modular lab spaces, innovative campus life facilities, and two acres of open greenspace to the existing 14-acre campus on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

SBI is proud to deliver impactful constructability, cost engineering, cost management, and value engineering services that will maximize efficiency and reduced costs throughout the life cycle of this ambitious project. As a result of SBI’s Leadership Solutions and careful planning, the project is on pace  to be completed within budget and on schedule.
