National September 11 Memorial
SBI guided this landmark project through unique obstacles, creating a world-class monument to the American immigrant story.
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a soaring tribute to the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Set on an 8-acre plaza in Lower Manhattan where the World Trade Center towers once stood, the memorial consists of two 30-foot recessed reflecting pools formed in the footprints of the original Twin Towers surrounded by waterfalls and 400 swamp white oak trees. The museum lies 70 feet below the plaza that doubles as the museum’s green roof.
SBI Consultants was honored to provide Leadership and Technical solutions to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum that involved cost estimation, value engineering and schedule management services. SBI engineers applied problem-solving expertise to address the challenges and limitations posed by the complexity and scale of the plaza. Working in close coordination with the project team, SBI maximized efficiency and reduced costs.
Completed in 2011, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum has accomplished its mission of creating a contemplative and educational experience for thousands of visitors. As a result of SBI’s Leadership solutions and careful planning, this important project was completed on schedule.
