Statue of Liberty Museum
SBI guided this landmark project through unique obstacles, creating a world-class monument to the Statue of Liberty.
SBI Consultants was honored to provide Advisor and Technical Solutions to Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation (SOLEIF) for the creation of the new Statue of Liberty Museum. The 26,000-square foot building includes state-of-the-art interactive exhibits, a green roof offering majestic views of the Manhattan skyline, and a gallery housing the Statue of Liberty’s original torch. The project also included a 4,000 square foot secondary screening facility and Island Beautification.
SBI’s role began with the evaluation of multiple initial proposals for feasibility, cost and schedule risks. Subsequently, as Owner’s Representative, SBI closely collaborated with SOLEIF and other project team members to bring the original vision for the museum to life. This involved the development of highly creative Technical Solutions to overcome the project’s extraordinary challenges. The installation of a temporary dock, logistics strategies to the delivery of construction materials, as well as archaeological findings on the island, which necessitated historic preservation considerations.
In addition to surmounting project obstacles, SBI’s cost saving and schedule strategies enabled SOLEIF to build a celebrated venue that will allow millions of visitors to discover and appreciate the Statue of Liberty through a comprehensive and meaningful experience.
